Gag Order
3.5’x5’, Oil on Canvas, 2018.
“Gag Order” alludes to the suffocating ideal that the media and society impose on women— a role fulfilled by being seen, but not heard. The piece is intended upon first glance to initially seduce the viewer with saturated lips, but then subsequently offer a more uncomfortable and disturbing dialogue once the nature of the restrictive plastic wrap is taken into account.
